Rare Carat Synthetic Diamonds are the future of engagement rings. The art of creating these synthetic diamonds started back in the 1800s when scientists used an embedded metal catalyst to remove carbon atoms from a diamond, thereby creating a mass of pure carbon. Synthetic diamonds are manufactured by heating carbon to around 1500 degrees Celsius until it is in a powder form, but they are still highly polished. The rough diamond consists of a pure carbon structure with millions of points on the surface. While rough diamonds are extremely rare, only 4 percent of the world’s natural diamonds are mined each year.
2. It can be created in any shape
The majority of the synthetic diamonds produced today come in a round shape and possess an octagonal pattern (known as an “octahedral” pattern). However, these synthetic diamonds can also be created in any shape. Manufacturers are now able to produce synthetic round diamonds with the hardest, most beautiful shapes and patterns that are produced by nature. The luster of the synthetic diamond has increased by over 70 percent from the rough diamond.
The color of the synthetic diamond is also exceptional, and just like a natural diamond, it will possess a light yellow or brownish hue. In addition to these three properties: beauty and high luster shine, amazing color, and high hardness-the synthetic diamond is expected to have some advantage over its natural counterpart.
3. It is perfect for a variety of settings
In addition to the traditional settings that are used to mount diamond jewelry, these synthetic diamonds can also be used in other settings. These diamonds can be joined together to make stunning and rare new designs. 6. It won’t just be used by celebrities
The future of synthetic diamonds is not just restricted to high-profile celebrities like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie; even average people can wear these synthetic diamonds as well. The price of synthetic diamonds will be so low in comparison to the almost $5,000 price tag of the real thing that they will become a popular alternative. For example, the average engagement ring cost is nearly $3,000; but if one of these synthetic diamonds were to cost around $1,500 or less than that, it would be very competitive as an engagement ring alternative.
Although it is only in its infancy stages, this new type of diamond has already begun to make waves in the jewelry industry. A diamond expert working for one of these manufacturers told an online publication that he believes approximately 30 percent of all rings purchased in America will eventually be made up exclusively with synthetic diamond alternatives.
