5 Reasons We’re Excited for Thor: Love and Thunder

The upcoming addition to the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder, continues the story of Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Hemsworth’s Thor will be more powerful than ever, thanks to the recently revealed ability to wield lightning as a weapon like his father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Here are 5 reasons we’re excited about the new movie and its star, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.

1) The women in the spotlight

We’re getting ready to see not just one but two powerhouse women of color hit the big screen this winter. Tessa Thompson is set to take the title role in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder,’ making her the first black woman to take on a lead in an MCU film while also playing a female character. Behind the scenes, Taika Waititi will be directing as well, making him Marvel’s first non-white director.
Love & Thunder not only features these important milestones within the comic book industry but is also quite exciting because it promises to showcase strong queer representation (outside of Scarlet Witch) with Tessa Thompson’s character Jane Foster adopting a genderqueer identity. It’s fair to say we’ve got our tickets already!

2) It’s set before Ragnarok

Thor is back! And this time, he’s not going alone. He’s coming with a group of friends…or should we say, family. Thor has always been one of our favorite heroes because he always battles adversity in his life but overcomes it with compassion and love, even for enemies. So you can imagine how excited we are that his latest movie, Love and Thunder, hits theaters on November 5th! In anticipation of the film’s release, we’ve got 5 reasons why you’ll love this movie as much as we do!
1) The Fierce Female Characters
2)The Roots in Mythology
3) New Stories
4) Thrilling Action
5) Mature Messages

3) Jeff Goldblum’s in it

Jeff Goldblum is going to be in the next installment of the Thor franchise! The casting choice was announced this week, which we can only assume is a testament to the director’s good taste, but either way, it’s great news. Jeff Goldblum, who first rose to prominence with his starring role in the 1986 comedy The Fly, has appeared in many memorable films over the years. Some of our favorite roles include Seth Brundle in The Fly, Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park, Dr. Ian Malcolm and Dr. David Murphy in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, John Hammond in Jurassic Park 3, and Dr.

4) Taika Waititi’s involved again

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I’ve been waiting patiently to see what this film will be about. Disney has finally announced its title, with the fourth installment of the series called Thor: Love and Thunder. It’s nice to finally have a name for the newest installment. In addition, we got new insights into how things will shake out. From initial trailer announcements, it’s clear that a love triangle is going to be central to the narrative of Thor (2019) – with Chris Hemsworth’s character first coming across ‘first love’ Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie in Norway. At first, he’s indifferent but they seem destined to reunite due to an impending war in Asgardia.

5) Thor himself gets an upgrade

We can’t wait to see the new, more diverse cast of heroes in Thor: Love and Thunder, hitting theaters this November. In this installment, Thor will find out that he’s a dad! Yup, Jane Foster is pregnant with their first child when a low-level Marvel villain called Kronin invades Asgard in a misguided attempt to take down the god of thunder. Good thing both fathers know how to fight! So who is Jane Foster? While she wasn’t a Norse goddess or an all-powerful superhero, she was still pretty awesome.
